      Fling-ama-String Cat Toy UPGRADE

Fling-ama-String… just another cat toy from Cousin Murf? Maybe so, but it’s one they have yet to get tired of! Gracie here likes it so much, we had to design an easy fix around the meager power supply of 3 AA batteries. We built 3 Radio Shack D Cell battery holders onto a small piece of wood, then clipped a metal clothes hanger hook to it and hung it on the other inside door knob. We used a cheap (mechanical ticking) timer switch that you can find at the hardware store- for bathroom ceiling fans, maybe . The D cells last a long time and it shuts itself off after 5 or 20 minutes- our Gracie here has had enough after ten minutes, anyway. We were going through three AA batteries every week- with the increased power of D Cells and the timer- it’s lasted 6 weeks so far… and still going strong! Fling-ama-String seems to have revived our 19 year old Himilayan from the clutches of death for one last romp- he loves it, too. Here’s now to do the upgrade: www.instructables.com

              Weird cat behavior, help?

So we have this plush cat toy on a string and every time I play with my cat with it, he does this really weird thing. He carries pulls it out of my hand and then walks around with it really slowly. His pupils get really dilated and then he starts squatting over it almost like he’s going to poop on it, but he never does. He just sits there with really big eyes squatting over the toy. It doesn’t have any catnip in it and my cat doesn’t like catnip, so any ideas or explanations? Thanks.

what can we do to stop our Bengal cat from "hunting?"?

We have a Bengal and all day long, he grabs things in his mouth from all over the house. He does this deep and loud meow from the pit of his stomach as he carries his "prey" and brings it to us as if he’s proud. He chooses everything from hair scrunchies, shoes, stuffed animals, pillows, blankets, pet toys, clothes, socks, barbies, etc… We have given him several good cat toys and catnip but he ignores them and goes for all this other stuff. We started closing all the bedroom doors so he couldn’t get things but then he started bringing towels from the bathroom, rugs, ANYTHING he can find. Some days he will gather 20-30 things. I’m tired of picking everything up. I know this is his natural instinct being that he is leopard way back but does anyone know what else we can try. We try to keep doors closed but with kids and all of us going in and out, they sometimes get left open and he goes wild.
